LocalBusiness schema generator in valid JSON-LD

The JSON-LD markup that describes your business to search engines

Recommended fields still empty: Business name, Number and street, City

Do not mark up your own rating. AggregateRating markup on your own business is restricted by Google and risks a manual action.

Markup to paste into your page

<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "LocalBusiness",
  "priceRange": "€€"
}
</script>

Everything is computed in your browser. Nothing is stored.

A web page tells a human you are a plumber in Bristol. It does not tell a machine, which sees only a paragraph. LocalBusiness markup translates that information into a structured format Google, Bing and assistants read without ambiguity. It is the first markup to put on a local business site, before even thinking about reviews or products.

How to use it

How it works

1

Fill in the details

Name, business type, address, phone, website, hours and price range. Only the name and the address are essential.

2

The JSON-LD is built

The block follows the schema.org specification, with the properties Google documents as useful for rich results.

3

Paste it into your page

Into a script tag of type application/ld+json, preferably in the head, on the page that describes the business.

Worth knowing

Four things to keep in mind

Choose the most specific subtype

Restaurant, HairSalon, Plumber and Dentist are all subtypes of LocalBusiness. The most precise one adds more context than a generic LocalBusiness, for no extra effort.

The markup must reflect the page

Declaring hours or an address absent from the visible content risks a penalty for misleading markup. What you mark up must also be readable on screen.

Do not mark up your own rating

AggregateRating markup on your own business is restricted by Google and earns manual actions. Reviews displayed on your own site are not marked up as third-party reviews.

One block per business

Several LocalBusiness blocks on the same page contradict each other and are often ignored wholesale. For multiple locations, one page per location, each with its own markup.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

JSON-LD, without hesitation. Google recommends it explicitly, it sits in a single block without touching the visible HTML, and it survives the redesigns that systematically break microdata.

In the head preferably, though the body works too. What matters is that it is present in the served HTML, and not injected by a script after loading.

Google's Rich Results Test and the schema.org validator confirm it in seconds. The second is stricter, the first tells you what Google will actually do with it.

Not directly. It helps search engines understand the page, which opens access to enriched displays. The gain shows in click-through rate rather than in position.
