Free FAQ schema generator in valid JSON-LD
Your questions and answers as JSON-LD, from one entry
These questions must appear visibly on the page. Marking up content that is absent is grounds for a penalty.
Markup to paste into your page
Fill in at least one question and its answer
Everything is computed in your browser. Nothing is stored.
A well marked-up frequently asked questions section can appear directly under your search result, and above all can serve as a source for assistants answering without showing a link. FAQPage markup is simple, but it refuses formatting HTML and copes badly with questions that have no answer. This tool cleans all of that up as it goes.
How to use it
How it works
Enter your pairs
A question, an answer, as many times as needed. Incomplete lines are left out of the final block.
The content is cleaned
Tags the specification does not allow are stripped. Links, lists and simple bold are kept.
Copy the block
The JSON-LD goes into the page that actually shows those questions, not into a page dedicated to markup.
Worth knowing
Four things to keep in mind
The answers must be visible
Marking up questions absent from the page, or hidden behind a tab that never loads, is grounds for a penalty. A closed accordion is fine, provided the text is in the HTML.
One FAQPage per page
Two FAQPage blocks at the same address compete for the same identifier and are ignored. Group every pair into a single block.
Ask real questions
"Our services" is not a question. The markup expects something phrased the way a visitor would ask it, which is also what makes it useful to assistants.
Short answer, complete answer
Enriched displays truncate past a few lines. Put the essential in the first sentence and the detail after, rather than a build-up that gets cut.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Display was heavily restricted in 2023 and now only covers certain government and health sites. The markup keeps its value for page understanding and for conversational assistants.
The specification accepts a reduced set: links, line breaks, lists, bold and italic. Everything else must be stripped, which this tool does automatically.
No. FAQPage assumes the site author both asks and answers. For questions asked by visitors, the QAPage type is the right one, with different rules.
No technical limit, but past a dozen the page gets hard to read. A long FAQ benefits from being split by theme, each on its own page.
